Frequently Asked Questions about Sprinklers

A Soaker Hose is a plastic hose with tiny holes spaced at intervals throughout its length. When turned on, it emits a spray outwards, similar to a sprinkler, but in one long line. A Weeper Hose, in comparison, slowly seeps water into the soil and looks more like it is dripping. Because Weeper Hoses drip directly into the ground underneath them, they are suitable for watering garden beds, can be buried under a thin layer of mulch and are useful for conserving water. Soaker Hoses, on the other hand, act more like a sprinkler. Many people like to use them on nature strips or other long sections of the garden.

Yes. The Weeper and Soaker Hoses have different threads at each end of the hose, allowing you to join more than one length together. The maximum length we recommend for effective watering is 30m.

Impulse sprinklers have the longest reach of any of our sprinklers and are designed to cover very large areas. We have two impulse sprinkler options – the Impulse Sprinkler Spike, which sits closest to the ground, or the Tripod Impulse Sprinkler, which can be used on slopes and set at various heights. The Tripod Impulse Sprinkler is particularly useful for reaching over garden beds.

Hoselink has a range of sprinklers to suit a variety of needs but the sprinklers that have proven to be most popular with our customers are the Oscillating Sprinkler and 9-Pattern Sprinkler. The Oscillating Sprinkler covers a large area, is very robust and works well on rectangular lawn spaces. The 9-Pattern Sprinkler covers around 6m and is perfect for setting up in awkward spaces and reducing water waste thanks to its variety of settings.

Our Impulse Sprinklers (Ground Spike & Tripod variations) have the most adjustments and variations of all our sprinklers. They are best suited to large spaces and are the same type of sprinklers you often see used on playing fields and golf courses. They feature adjustments that can be made to the distance sprayed, radius, arc and distribution of water. If you’re looking for a sprinkler with various settings for a typical home situation, the Oscillating Sprinkler will allow you to water the lawn without watering the pavement next to it, with settings to adjust water flow, oscillation and spray width.

The Low Pressure Wobble Sprinkler can be joined up with other sprinklers of the same type. You will need to add extra hoses and connectors. Each of these sprinklers has an outlet opposite the water inlet which can be unscrewed to add extra sprinklers.

The Water Saver reduces water use up to 25% by pulsing the water flow through the sprinkler. It is gear driven and will assist with increased saturation. The Water Saver is designed for use with some sprinklers and irrigation but is not suitable for use with any other hand-held watering devices.

The Low Pressure Wobble Sprinkler. This specially designed sprinkler disperses water up to 6m in diameter (depending on water pressure), emitting droplets of water rather than a mist or spray, which helps to reduce water wastage whilst providing sufficient coverage.

Oscillating Sprinkler: 12-15m, 9-Pattern Sprinkler: 6m, Classic Round Sprinkler: 6m, Impulse Spike Sprinkler: 30m, Tripod Impulse Sprinkler: 35m (with good water pressure), Low-Pressure Wobble Sprinkler: 6m, Whirly Spike Sprinkler: 8m.

The Soaker Hose sprays areas up to 4m wide.

The 9 different patterns on this sprinkler are: soaker, rounded square, square, gentle jets, classic round, arc, half moon, narrow band and wide band.

The extendable lockable legs on the Tripod Impulse Sprinkler can be extended to 115cm. The tripod leg heights can be individually adjusted to account for sloping or uneven ground.

We offer a one-year warranty on all our sprinklers. However, our customer aftercare service is for life, so if you ever have any questions, queries or issues please give us a call on 1300 900 617 or email hello@hoselink.com.au and we will do our best to assist you.

Early mornings are the best time to water your garden. Sprinklers are often only necessary in hot, dry periods, usually spring and summer, so keep an eye on the temperature and weather to identify the best period to switch your sprinkler on. It is also important to be aware of any water restrictions in place in your area, as often these prohibit the use of sprinklers.

Sprinklers offer a time-saving, convenient and highly effective way of delivering the water your garden needs. Frequently set up on a timer system, sprinklers ensure your garden stays hydrated whilst you're at work or busy doing other things, ensuring an even spread of water every time your garden beds or lawn needs it.

This depends on how much water your garden needs, however, we usually recommend 30 minutes to one hour of use 3-4 times per week in summer and less so in cooler periods is ideal.
