FAQ's | G5011SGLG | 9 in 1 Metal Raised Garden Bed | 43cm (17") Tall | Sage | AU

Q: How much soil do I need to fill this garden bed?

Length x Width x Depth = Total amount of soil you will need. For example the total amount of soil for the 9 in 1 garden bed, using all the parts filled right to the top equals about 0.91 cubic metres (910 litres). This means if you were buying bags of soil:

50 L bags = 19 bags, with a little left over
40 L bags = 23 bags, with a little left over
30 L bags = 31 bags, with a little left over
25 L bags = 37 bags

Note: this is filled right to the top, once watered and the soil settles the height will drop.

Q: What can I grow in 43cm of soil?

At this depth, you can grow almost any vegetable, herb or flower and even some small shrubs and fruit trees will grow well.

Q: Does the garden bed have a bottom or base?

Most standard raised garden beds are bottomless to allow deep root growth and natural drainage. Not ideal for a deck or indoor area.

Q: Can I place on concrete, patio or balcony?

On concrete or paved areas, lay a protective barrier like a pond liner or heavy-duty mat underneath first. This catches soil runoff and stops the metal marking the surface, greatly reducing the chance of staining. We don't recommend balconies, though: once filled with soil these beds are very heavy, which is well beyond what most balconies are built to hold.

Q: Do I need to use a liner?

Placing a layer of cardboard directly on the ground can smother weeds and will breakdown over time, improving soil health. Avoid waxed or glossy cardboard as the ink may contain toxins and may leach into you soil.

Q: Is the material safe for growing edible vegetables?

Yes, our garden beds are non-toxic and extremely safe for growing food in.

Q: Will the metal get too hot in summer and burn my plants?

Not at all, metal garden beds are very good at refecting heat maintaining a consistant and cool soil temperature.

Q: Will the metal raised garden bed withstand the cold?

The metal garden bed can withstand temperatures as low as -60c

Q: Is it rust and corrosion resistant?

Yes All panels are rust and corrosion resistant thanks to the Al-Zn-Mg galvanised steel construction. The hardware is made of food grade 304 stainless steel, and won't rust either.

Q: Do I need any tools for assembly?

Either a PH2 Phillips head screwdriver or for faster assembly, an electric drill with PH2 phillips head drill bit.

Q: How long does assembly take?

It should take 1 person 30 to 45 minutes.

Q: Are the edges sharp?

No, the edges have been rolled to prevent injury, also there is a rubber strip that can be placed along the top edge for extra protection.

Does it come with warranty?:

It comes with a 5 year warranty
