9 Ways To Beautify Your Patio

This article was written by Sophie Dean on behalf of Mainland Aggregates.

Whether your back garden is small or large, one of the best ways to make the most of the space is to have a paved patio area. This makes your garden much more usable all year round than just having a lawn area in your garden. Unlike grass, a paved patio is low maintenance and easy to care for; it can be easily swept to clear away leaves and debris, and you can also use a pressure washer to keep the paving stones looking their best. A paved patio area therefore cuts down on the amount of time you would spend mowing the lawn and keeping grass in good condition.

During the summer a patio provides the perfect area in which to entertain friends with a barbecue, enjoy some al fresco dining, or just sit in your recliner and enjoy reading a book in the sun. When autumn approaches and the nights begin to draw in, your patio can still provide a usable space thanks to outdoor heaters, fire pits, and chunky blankets. Gather round the fire pit with friends and toast marshmallows while you sip on hot chocolate, perfect!

A paved patio area in your back garden provides the perfect space for entertaining guests, relaxing with a good book, or enjoying some al fresco dining. Pimp your patio and get more out of it with these nine top tips...

1. Indian Stone Paving

Indian stone paving ‘paves’ the way when it comes to quality stone flooring for your patio!

2. Herb Garden

The perfect way to add a touch of green to your patio, and pimp up your cooking at the same time!

3. Fire Pit

Enjoy your patio whatever the weather with a cozy fire pit!

4. Stone BBQ

Build a stone barbecue on your patio and cook up a storm all summer long!

5. Plants

Brighten up your patio with an array of colourful potted plants!

6. Furniture

Lightweight rattan chairs and matching table are ideal; easily moveable, can be stored away during winter, and are waterproof and wipe clean.

7. Water Feature

Add a touch of zen to your patio area with a relaxing and peaceful water feature!

8. Pergola

A pergola adds some shelter and shade to your patio, and provides the perfect base for growing vines, displaying hanging baskets, and supporting hanging lamps.

9. Lighting

Adding some outdoor lighting to your patio, such as solar lamps and outdoor fairy lights, means you can use the area in the evenings with comfort.
